RAVAS Central Server

The RAVAS Central Server runs on a Windows computer in the local network of the RAVAS scales. It finds the scales on the network, keeps connections to them, collects their weights, parameters and logs, and receives weights pushed by indicators in RDC mode. Its web interface and REST API give access to all scales in one place, and its legacy routes take over from the RAVAS Data Collector (RDC) and the RAVAS Integration Server (RIS).

Terms

  • Indicator: the RAVAS weighing electronics with a display, which communicates with the server over the network.
  • Scale: a weighing instrument with its indicator, as known to the server. Each indicator the server connects to is one scale.
  • Device: the same as a scale. The API (/api/v1/devices) and parts of the web interface use this name.
  • ASCII and RedBox: the two protocols the server uses to talk to scales. ASCII is used by RAVAS indicators with an xPico Wi-Fi module, RedBox by RAVAS RedBox devices.
  • Managed: a scale the server keeps connected at all times.
